I finally decided to return to Facebook. I was VERY VERY reluctant. I had an account years ago and I deleted it because I couldn't stand how invasive it was. Privacy settings did nothing for me, because the level of privacy I wanted was unachievable.
So what's the difference now? I decided to make an art-related account only, to network with artists or even just people enjoying arts. It won't be a personal account like I had before, so for the first time privacy won't be an issue.
Anyone is welcome!

It's very bare now, I just made it.
Just a little note: I won't be posting work in my Facebook page, but I'll certainly post links to it. Facebook is rather fishy regarding copyright terms, besides, I think that sites like DeviantArt and such are better platforms to showcase images.
Although Facebook is good when it comes to sharing things, gathering opinions or even just saying hello.
Come say hello!

Under the Mountain
Underdark metaphor and connections, which sort of goes over to a WordPress blog.

Same old scam
...but I thought I'd let you know.
I discovered that an italian publisher specialized in UFO and otherworldly themes has been selling monthly magazines using uncredited and unpaid work of many illustrators.
They used (and horribly photoshopped) my alien-grey illustration, but they also did it with other "Deviants" like Wen-Jr and Cameron Gray, who I already notified.
Here's the lame cover they did with mine: http://www.xpublishing.it/public/riviste/112/%2062%20Xtimes.jpg

It's been a while since my last journal post.
The year started in a weird manner, sometimes slow, other times blazing fast. In fact it's almost May! Ridiculous.
After my last illustration (the Little Mermaid) I couldn't find inspiration for anything, I suddenly went out of sync with the muse (if you want to call it that way). I decided to drop a drawing that I should have finished after several days, but it was taking me so long and I was so unhappy that I could never get it to a satisfactory point. The thing wasn't speaking to me anymore, it was like trying to fix someone else's drawing. Horrible experience.

Art's task
I want to share this wonderful quote. There's a deep meaning in it, it's not just "pretty words". It's what I've been feeling towards art for a long time, causing my personal struggles in the search of myself through this form of expression that too often is polluted by conventions and preconceptions.
Rather than a process of learning, I think I'm trying to unlearn everything. It's even harder.
Art is meant to be the freest and purest journey a human being could undertake.
I hope you feel the same way. I'm sure a lot of us do.
"Art's task is to save the soul of mankind and anything less is a dithering while Rome burns. Because if the art

...to all of you who enjoyed Alice in Nukeland. I've read all your messages and I'd like to reply to all, but it would be a bit time consuming. Nevertheless I truly enjoy reading how creepy or weird the stuff I do looks to you, because that's the point. :D I enjoy weirdness. I hope I won't keep you awake at night for too long, but if that happens I will be somehow honored (and sympathetic).

I also have a Twitter account, but I admit I don't use it that much: http://twitter.com/#!/alejandrodini
There are so many networking sites that I can hardly keep up with all

I think I'm just one of two people in my class who, up to today, don't have a Facebook-account.
By now, I'm not entirely ruling out to join, but I'm still incredibly reluctant.
From what I heard, it might be useful to advertise yourself and your stuff, though (which doesn't really matter for me right now, but it probably would in the near future).
Can you confirm that, I wonder?
